Every student is different, so every lesson plan is too. Over time, lessons bring together:
Technique
Grip, strokes, rudiments and footwork, so you play with control and without strain.
Reading
Learn to read drum notation step by step, so you can pick up new material on your own.
Grooves
The beats behind rock, pop, funk, hip hop, jazz and more, and how to make them feel good.
Songs
Play along to real music you like. It is the best way to put everything together.
Timing with a click
Practising with a metronome builds steady, confident time that bands love.
Exams and advanced study
Trinity graded drum exams if you would like them, and advanced work for conservatoire and university-level players, right up to post-degree level.
30 or 60 minutes
Choose the lesson length that suits you. 30 minutes is a good fit for younger students and for building a steady weekly habit. 60 minutes gives more room for songs, reading and exam work.
Weekly or now and then
Most students keep a regular weekly lesson, which is the surest way to keep progressing. Occasional one-off lessons are welcome too.
What to bring
Nothing at first. Everything you need to play is in the studio.
Once you are up and running, practising at home makes a big difference. For that you will want:

Booking and cancelling
- Book onlineUse our booking system to choose your lesson length and time. There is no account or password to remember.
- Pay in advanceLessons are paid by bank transfer before the lesson. The details are on your booking page.
- 24 hour cancellationCancel more than 24 hours ahead and there is no charge. Inside 24 hours, and for missed lessons, the lesson is charged as normal.
